During the years of experimental cultivation one variety showed particular characteristics which suited the Irish climate best. This variety was still under research of the German viticultural research institute of Geisenheim. As Thomas Walk was the first to bring this variety to Ireland it was namend "Amurensis Walk" until it was officially classified under the name "Rondo".

"Amurensis Walk" / "Rondo" is an early and fast ripening, fungus resitant red grape variety which suits the climate of Southern Ireland best.
What about sustainability?
Thomas Walk is determined to grow his grapes in a most sustainable way. No spraying and as little "ground work" as possible. Except of a mild sulphurization which is needed for shelf life nothing is added. The wine is even not filtered following our slogan "nothing added but time".
